Water Rockets
Water rockets are so exciting.
We filled our bottle rockets 1/3 full of water (that was the easy bit).
Next we pumped air into the bottle.
When the air pressure built up inside the rocket the rocket finally exploded.
These water rockets work by forcing air into a small space which then releases a valve and allows the rocket to fly into the air.
Air Rockets
Ms. McLoughlin's class made air rockets from 2D and 3D shapes last week.
We helped Ms. McLoughlin's class to launch them today in honour of Space Week.
We used a bicycle pump to put air in the tube.
When we opened the valve the rockets flew off into the air.
It is hard work launching rockets!

Library Visit
The librarians were SO helpful.
Teacher was fascinated to learn about the FREE app she can put on her phone and ipad that will let her borrow books, audiobooks and magazines for free.
Ask at the library, they have all the information there.
Library times: Tuesday to Saturdays 11-1 and 2-5.

Visit from the Connacht Rugby Team and Sam's Dad Tim Allnutt
On Tuesday 26th April, we were very excited and honoured that Sam's Dad organised for some of the Connacht Rugby squad to come and talk to us in our classroom. We met Niyi Adeolokun, Finlay Bealham, Jack Carty, Robbie Henshaw and the captain John Muldoon, who told us his favourite subject at school was Irish! They showed us some video clips of their best matches and told us what it is like to be a professional sports person.
Tim gave each of us a Connacht flag and he also gave us a rugby ball signed by the whole team.
UP CONNACHT!

Monday 12th Oct. 2015
This week 10th to 18th Oct. 2015 is Maths week and we had lots of fun today at school. We played a Maths game on the crackingmaths website called Diggy Doggy. We had to follow directions to lead the dog to the correct location to dig for his bone. It was fun!
We also learned simple coding using the Kodables app on our iPad. It was a little tricky at first but we soon got the idea of it, and we helped each other to learn.

Junior Spider Awards 2014
We were thrilled to have Scoil ChaitrĂona Junior's blog website
nominated for a Best School Blog Award in the 2014 Eircom Junior Spider Awards.
These awards were held in the Google Foundry in Dublin yesterday.
While we did not win our category, we had a wonderful day and the students who accompanied the two teachers really did us proud!
Well done to them!

Pat the Hat
We walked to Ballybane Library on a lovely sunny morning in October. We listened to a story-teller called Pat the Hat telling stories and doing magic tricks. He even showed us how to draw a pig using the letters e, E, w, W and M! See our photos on the page above.
We had our annual Halloween Walk around Renmore on the 25th of October. Everyone wore great costumes to school and we had great fun!

1st Class 2013-2014
We have been busy in Ms.Cunningham's 1st Class from September till now. We collected lots of beautiful Autumn leaves and did lovely Art work with them. Maggie, our S.N.A; helped us.
On the 19th of September, Kay from Brigid's Garden came to do gardening with us. We picked the vegetables that had grown over the summer-carrots, onions, scallions and lettuce, and we brought some home for dinner!
Look at our photos!
